I was finally able to upload some videos from the cross country trip.  Will have to upload them a few at a time.  Sorry about the quality - I was driving while trying to film most of them!

Catching up and catching my breath

I've been remiss in postings for this blog.  Everything was new and different, and I went to work after a week almost full time. (Well, more than full time compared to what I'm used to working.) 

The condo wasn't *completely* furnished, Bear wasn't loving it when I was gone, and it's been cloudy and raining almost every day since I arrived.  The 17th wettest summer in Anchorage on record.

I could go on and on with excuses, but that would be a waste of time.  

Here's what I know so far:  I've been able to be an Alaskan Angel to at least a handful of people since I arrived, and that was my goal.

People and lives are pretty much the same no matter where they are located.  They get up and go to work, come home to their people and do fun things on the weekend.  That could be hiking in chilly bear country or in sweltering snake country.  It's not WHERE you are, it's WHO you are, and who you are with that matters.

It took me a long while, but I've finally come to appreciate my drive from VA to AK.  Bear was anxious, and that made me anxious.  But amid the anxiety - so much beauty and so many amazing experiences.  I've tried to post videos and pics that I haven't been able to post on Facebook.  It might just be pictures - I'll have to work on how to upload videos.

As of last Sunday, I've already been here a month, and I have fewer than two left.  My "to do", "to visit" and "to see" list is long, but I have faith I can do it.  Until I'm here again.

Happy Fourth of July.  As a friend I helped this morning said, "America is great, and Alaskans are great!"
